Weight Loss, Australia Style!
Australian tax payers are in an uproar after it was revealed that 32,000 Australian dollars was spent in a 6 months period as 100 employees of the Department of Defence were placed on a weight loss program. Another 30,000 dollars was spent on other civil servant departments as they were deemed ‘to fat to work’. The information which was published online as a requirement of the Australian Federal Government is said to be misleading as it was listed under the category of Education and Training.
In a recent study it has been proven that people who lose weight improve their productivity and their moral which can help the company profits. Even so the Australian Prime Minister Mr Kevin Rudd commented that this was “odd and unusual in the extreme”. He will be looking into whether it was money well spent!
Nevertheless, the Australian tax payers are wanting to know why their money is being spent to help people that are overweight or obese, lose weight! In many eyes of the Australian public, these people eat too much and are too lazy to do any exercise – it is more of a personal issue and not one they feel the country should be picking up the tab for. The row continues…
