With the Summer time comes the ‘healthy’ salad option meals, I use the word healthy very loosely. Are the people that are trying to lose weight fooling themselves into thinking that eating all that lettuce, carrots and cucumber will assist them in their weight loss?
If it were just left to those three staple ingredients (lettuce, carrots and cucumber) then it would help but
lets be honest that’s not what we call a salad, we add mayonnaise, cheese, potato salad and that’s not to mention the meat or chicken and the full cream spicy cheesy side dip, to be honest after we add all the extras to our salad it can add up to having more calories than a steak dinner with all the trimmings.
We all have to be very careful when we are on our diets, many of the things we think are good for us end up doing the exact opposite. Salads are great but we need to watch what we put into them, add in some
carbohydrates and proteins and cut down on the fat content, don’t just eat the lettuce and carrots as there is not enough to sustain our bodies, and it will go into survival mode thus storing any fat that it receives.
The way to succeed in weight loss is to eat a normal well balanced meal but in smaller portions, by all means have a side salad with low fat dressing. We all have to train our bodies into the way of healthy eating this is the only way to succeed in a successful weight loss program.
