lazy-girl-dietHow many people said at the beginning of December they were going to watch what they were eating during the festive period, and how many actually stuck to it? We always seen to be tempted by the mince pies, crisps, peanuts and chocolates and then there’s the drink, the saying “just the one” comes into mind but who actually has just one?

Many of the countries women must be dreading the first day back at work and the inevitable squeeze into the work clothes. You are not alone in this thinking however it’s up to you where you go from here! As there are many different diets on the market we thought we would discuss the Lazy Girls Diet, this is ideal for the woman who would rather being anything else rather than slaving over a hot stove.

This is a simple diet and if you are a single person you can lose as much as 10lbs in only one month, all you have to do is visit your local shop and buy any pre-packed food which is low-calorie and low in fat. There is no need to prepare, count calories or look at fat content, in-fact all you do is heat it up and eat away to your heart’s desire and the good thing about this diet is that it is also suitable if you are vegetarian.

This diet works by choosing 3 pre-packed meals plus one snack per day, you have to eat the entire meals, do not miss any meals as this will make you make you hungry and then you will tempted to snack. As with all diets you have to drink at least eight glasses of water this will keep your body hydrated and will also take the edge off your appetite, if water is a bit bland for you then you can drink tea and coffee without the sugar.

As well as the milk on the diet you are allowed to drink 300ml of skimmed milk on top of any milk that is mentioned in the diet sheets.

This diet will consist of some of the following:

Breakfast

• A 200g pot Müller Light Cherry Yogurt, 1 medium-sized banana and 1 apple
• Small individual pack of Shreddies from a variety pack with 150ml skimmed milk. Small glass orange juice.
• 6tbsp Fruit ‘n’ Fibre with a 200g pot of Total 0% Fat Greek Natural Yogurt.

Lunch

• 250g of Tuna (John West or Tesco health living), Smoothie Yogurt, and 2 kiwi fruit.
• Boots shapers meals.
• Asda Good for you sandwiches

Dinners

• Tesco’s healthy living meals
• Asda Good to you range meals
• Birds Eye Roast Beef in gravy, 2 small boiled potatoes

Snacks one per day

• 30 seedless grapes
• 10 Maltesers
• 1 apple and 2 satsumas
• Boots shapers fruit selection.

As well as the Lazy girl diet there is also a range of lazy Girl exercises

weight-loss-now.-atkinsCome the 2nd of January many people will be starting their annual diets, no more chocolate, crisps, nuts or the dreaded Christmas pudding. However many will fail within the first week and even more within the first month. Many people simply don’t understand the diet that they are going onto and in the end, set their goals too high, this ends up in failure.

Therefore choosing the right diet can be just as important as actually carrying it through!

Over the next few weeks we at Weight-loss-Now will be giving you our experience of different diets, hopeful giving you a better understanding of their good and bad points.

The Atkins Diet or the Atkins Nutritional Approach first arrived in Britain in 1972 by an American Dr Robert Atkins; the thinking behind this diet is to cut or limit the amount of Carbohydrates that the body takes in.

This is a high protein, high fat diet which will suit any meat lover.

However it has come in for some bad press over the years due to the amount of fat and protein that the body has to absorb, some people say that it is unhealthy and dangerous as your body in not getting enough of the carbohydrates it requires to function properly and you may find it harder to concentrate and focus properly and may cause constipation and mood swings. This diet has not been around that long so no long term studies into any dangers are conclusive yet.

How does the Atkins diet work?

Our bodies need energy to do everyday tasks from breathing to taking a shower as we are doing a task our bodies are gathering energy from carbohydrates and fat, the carbohydrates are the first to be burnt as energy so the fat has nowhere to go (well we all know where it goes), so the thinking of Dr Robert Atkins is to drastically cut down on the carbohydrates and burn the fat first.

This diet does work and in the first couple of weeks people are expected to lose as much as 10 pounds per week.

I personally like this diet, I have used it and lost nearly two stone in the past, if you love eating fish, chicken and the odd fried breakfast then you will enjoy this diet.

As with all diets it is recommended that you speak to your GP before attempting any food cut down.

weight-loss-nowWell this is the season to be jolly and don’t we know it, as we sit there stuffing our face with turkey sandwiches, crisps, nuts and chocolate we keep saying to ourselves “I really have to go on a diet but it will have to be after the New Year”. To be honest not many people actually start a diet during the festive season, as we know there are far too many temptations, but once you have made your New Year resolution you have to be serious.

As the second of January arrives so does the diet, but which is the best one for you, you could spend weeks looking through all the diets that are on the market. Which diet is best suited to you, as you study them there are testimonials from people claiming they lost ten pounds in six hours, and “I used to be twenty three stone, look at me now only nine and only been on a diet for twenty weeks”. What are you to do and which diet is best for you?

When we want to lose weight, one thing is for certain we have to use up more calories than we take in, for most that includes doing some extra form of exercise. That does not mean you have to spend hundreds of pounds and joining the local gym, it will be just as good for you taking the kids or the family dog out for a walk another idea is when you want to go to the local shops walk rather than take the car. This is the first step to helping you lose weight.

Choosing a diet!

As I said there are literally thousands of diets on the market, which is best for you? There are diets that help you lose weight quickly, steadily and some that try and restructure your eating habits. We have all heard of the main diets like Atkins diet , Slim fast and Weight Watchers but there are many more that most people have not heard of, diets such as the Lazy Girls Diet, Muffin Top Diet and the Sensa Sprinkles Diet, over the next few weeks we will hopefully help you in choosing a diet that will suit your lifestyle and help you lose those extra pounds.

weight-loss-christmasAt this time of year we all love to spoil ourselves especially when we are doing the Christmas shopping we like to go out for lunch or be taken out for dinner. Then when we get home there’s the large tin of chocolates, mince pies and crackers and cheese and that’s not to mention the festive drinking. All this extra eating and drinking will take its toll on your body, we know this, but one thing is for certain we don’t like people saying to us “are you putting on weight?” that just depresses us more, so we eat more.

As Christmas day arrives the festive eating and drinking will continue in-fact how many people will, after their big Christmas Dinner fall into their favourite seat undo the top button of their trousers and relax. This is very common in Britain today, so you are not alone. This is probably the first time the thoughts of a diet come into the head, as you sit there watching the traditional Wizard of Oz or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

You may have heard some people talking about weight loss suppressants, this works by fooling your body into feeling full. Weight loss suppressants have seen some attention on the media that’s why there are so many available on the market today. Please be very careful when choosing which appetite suppressant to take as some may contain only natural ingredients while others may contain ingredients that have been banned in other parts of the world.

For that quick fix, try a body wrap, these will not only lose those extra inches on your ‘fatty’ areas but will also help you skin to look great. Water retention does make you gain weight and a body wrap will (depending on which one you choose) help draw the toxins and fluids out your body thus helping you lose those extra inches.

Exercise is still the best method of natural safe weight loss. Start by walking to the shops for the paper instead of the taking the car, taking the kids or the family dog out for a walk or go down the park with the kids to play.

At the end of the day losing weight is a balancing act between cutting down on the number of calories taken and the calories burned through physical exercise.

We are constantly being told to ‘lose weight, don’t eat that its bad for you’ (this blog post is no different), forever being reminded about the damage of being overweight can do to your heart, liver, kidneys, not to mention underlying problems such as diabetes and sleeping problems. However, there is one area of our bodies that gets overlooked when it comes to weight issues – our eyesight.

eyesight-weight-problemsMany people are unaware of associating eyesight problems with their diets. When they undertake a new weight loss program, a lot of the ‘bad’ foods which we bin for a healthier diet, often contain the nutrients that help keep our eyes functioning properly.

Foods which are very good for helping and maintaining good eyesight are as follows :

* Vitamin A, this is found in foods such as liver, meats, milk, cheese and eggs, this vitamin or retinal palmitate is then converted to retinol which helps your eyes function correctly. Vitamin A can also help another eye condition, glaucoma this serious condition is caused when some of the cells at the back of the eye become damaged or lost, if this condition is left untreated you will lose your sight completely. This disease is more common in people in the 40 -50 age group and as we get older our bodies produce less of the chemical retinol so it is important to replace as much as possible.

* Omega 3, this has been proven by several top Ophthalmologists to lower the pressure in the eyes by at least 10%, high pressure is one of the major contributories to the disease glaucoma. Omega 3 can be found in such foods as fish, cabbage, broccoli and some nuts.

No-one needs to tell you just how important having healthy eyesight is, so when planning your next diet try to remember how food interacts with different parts of your body. We all want to lose those extra pounds and look good but we also want to see the results for ourselves without putting our eyesight in jeopardy.

55 million people are on a diet or doing some type of weight loss program at any one time in America and Britain, most will fail after the first week, this is a sad fact. Many people set their goals too high and simply give up, if you are going to diet pick one that is suited to your body needs, this is the first step in a successful diet.
