Summmmoooooooo
Are we ever happy with our weight, have we become a nation that judges others because society dictates it? Sumo wrestlers are among the largest men on the planet yet are treated like Gods in Japan. What would you do if you were to see one walking into your local takeaway? Probably have a quiet giggle to yourself? On the other hand if were to see a supermodel at size zero you would think that she had something wrong with her.
Society expects us to be a certain weight or size, we are constantly being bombarded by companies telling us that their diet is the best, how many diets are on the market at any one time? Some encouraging us to attend meetings, some telling us to eat meat, some telling us not to eat meat, hi-carb or low- carb but one thing remains the same – they are all looking to take money off you.
After doing a little research into ‘how your body works’, our DNA has only changed 1% in 10,000 years, if we don’t eat every 4 hours our bodies looses trust in our ability to eat regularly so it starts to store fat, so in order to loose weight we must eat regularly that is why it is so important to have a good breakfast. One thing is certain, Sumo wrestlers only have 1 meal a day, they go all day without eating so there bodies start to store fat. So what do these giants eat?
It’s a stew called Chanko-nabe (Chinese pot stew) made from fish (meat, chicken or beef) all served with very large amounts of rice and vegetables, all this food washed down with large amounts of beer which increases their Cortsol levels again giving them that ‘beer belly’ which helps them stay stable in the ring. Once dinner is finished the Sumo wrestler will go to sleep immediately. Although these men are heavy it still remains they are still world class athletes (just incase I do bump into one in my local takeaway).
