Fat Firefighter Sacked
A Scottish firefighter has been sacked from his job because of his weight problem. Kevin Ogilvie, who had served with Grampian Fire and Rescue Service for over 22 years was dismissed from his post because his weight was a danger to himself and others under Health & Safety laws.

Mr Ogilvie was first sacked from his job back in the Summer of 2008, but was reinstated after Scottish firefighters had threatened to go on strike in support of Mr Ogilvie. He was given a three month probation period to sort his weight problem and get fit.
However, Grampian Fire and Rescue said the problem was not Mr Ogilvie’s weight after the three-month probation period was over but his fitness. He had failed to meet their requirements and thus terminated his contract.
